The Irish National Sailing & Powerboat School is continuing to expand careers in the marine leisure industry beyond the traditional school/college aged cohorts.
Sailing and powerboat training is no longer an exclusive Summer pursuit and we’ve never shied away from adapting to new challenges, having long since dispensed with the notion that the status quo is the only way to develop sailing and powerboating in Ireland.
Now we’re inviting experienced sailors and powerboats who are either already retired or nearing retirement to consider undertaking training to become instructors in various disciplines and pass on their immense skills. We’re also keen to hear from those how hold qualifications already in these areas and are looking to see how to get involved.
The course schedule is flexible and can be tailored to individuals own schedule.
Sailors and Powerboaters Wanted
Training will be provided to candidates to get them to the level as follows:
- Powerboat Instructors
- Keelboat Instructors
- RYA Cruising Instructors (yachting courses)
We’re keen to hear from any prospective participants on this programme. The format of the programme will involve training to iron out any bad habits developed with an instructor course at the end. From then on, the new instructor would be invited to work on an ad-hoc basis on our Keelboat, Powerboat and Yacht Cruising Scheme courses.
Glyn Williams would be delighted to chat with prospective candidates, with an anticipated timeframe for the first round of training to run later this Summer, and into Autumn/Winter. The aim is that candidates qualify in time for the 2024 season.

- Shorebased Instructors
For those with instructor qualifications already, we’d be delighted to get you on board quicker. The aim is to have a totally flexible schedule that suits you. We’re not expecting full-time commitment and really are interested in finding something that allows you to pass on your skills and a workload that suits your needs.
