Attending a Course - 7-17 Years

In advance of your start day, here are some very important points to note:

We cannot admit any child onto our courses in the absence of signed parental consent and contact details for parents and guardians.

Please click here to access our parental consent/booking form – every child attending our courses must submit a completed form signed by a parent on the first morning at the latest or affected students will not be able to take part in our programmes until forms are received.

Students should bring the following next week:

  • Spare Change of Clothes
  • Packed Lunch & Bottled Water
  • Footwear (Old Runners to wear in Boat)
  • Plenty of Warm Layers
  • Wetsuit (Can be hired from us)
  • Swimming Togs and Waterproof Jacket
  • Hat & Suncream
  • Logbook (optional)

Any valuables including: Mobile Phones, iPods, Cameras, Wallets etc. We cannot accept responsibility for lost or stolen items and must advise that they are left safe at home.

As with Primary and Secondary Schools, Mobile Phones are strictly forbidden and should be left at home, or left in a student’s bag turned off. Students found using phones will have them confiscated immediately. Phones do not mix well with seawater. The INSS will in no way be responsible for lost or stolen Mobile Phones or Mobile Phones damaged due to immersion in seawater.

Wetsuits are available for hire at €20 for the week. Wetsuit hire can be arranged and paid for on arrival on the first day of the course. We do not approve the use of shortie wetsuits at the Irish National Sailing and Powerboat School, as they do not keep the children warm enough for a full day.

We would ask that when dropping and collecting students to us that you park in a safe and careful manner. Dun Laoghaire Harbour Police have specifically asked us to remind parents that parking in the yellow box outside our main Clubhouse is illegal, and also endangers the safety of your child – the clamp release fee is €80. We will provide stewards outside our Clubhouse and around the West side of the Harbour to advise on parking issues and collection and drop off points.

Alternative options to driving down to outside our Clubhouse are to park in Monkstown, near the service station (access to our main Clubhouse via railway bridge), or for access to Seapoint Beach Compound by parking in Salthill & Monkstown DART Station Car Park (access to beach base is via railway bridge in car park).

Designated parking is available at our Seapoint Summer Beach Base.
