Watching youngsters grow in confidence as they master the art of sailing is one of the great rewards for the us. Our courses will entertain, challenge and stimulate your children as they learn how to master a sailing dinghy afloat – and have fun along the way.

Course Structure

Students are assigned to groups according to their age, as years of experience has taught us that the children get the most out of the course when training with their peers. Students are grouped as follows 4-6 years7-10 years11-14 years and 15-17 years. Within these groups the students are then sub divided according to their experience. We provide all essential gear for the course, boats and buoyancy aids, while wetsuits can be hired by the week. In addition our instructors are very experienced, we have a clubhouse facility with changing rooms and we are fully insured. We have an excellent safety record and pride ourselves on our superb reputation.

Courses run Monday to Friday from 9am to 5pm except where stated for the 7-17 year olds.

Course Format this Summer

Arrive & Leave in Wetsuits
Over the last two years we made a number of changes to the operation that had benefits far beyond preventing the spread of COVID-19. One such change was to have students arrive and leave in wetsuits. This resulted in far more time on the water, a better level of sailing skill and avoided all the trouble that younger students in particular have getting into and out of wetsuits on their own. The wide ranging benefits and ultimately the better service that resulted means that for 2022 students must arrive and leave in their wetsuit. Please note, students will be permitted to use a changing room if they become very cold.

Wetsuit Rental

Wetsuit Rental will once again operate for this Summer.  Please book via the link here to add the wetsuit rental to your cart.

The cost for the rental of each wetsuit is €20 per week. Collection before the course and drop back after the course will be facilitated.

  • Raincoat/waterproof jacket
  • Change of Clothes (in case of emergency)

  • T-Shirt and Sweatshirt, warm jumper for lunchtimes
  • Old Trainers / Wetsuit Booties / Crocs (flip flops are not suitable for the activity)
  • Packed Lunch
  • Wetsuit
  • Logbook  (Optional)

Within the age groups we divide the children based on their experience. This is completed after registration on the first day by the instructors.

Yes, so long as they are within the same age group. Just after registration on the first morning the instructors will divide the children into groups. It’s important that chidlren ask to go with their friends at this point. Please note that in the case of friends being at different levels of experience, we will likely have to move the more advanced child to the group with the less advanced friend. The instructors will still offer coaching based on each child’s experience level.

No, but they do be relatively water confident. They will of course be wearing a buoyancy aid (dinghy sailing version of lifejacket) when on or near the water.

The previous discount system was established in response the 2008 recession. To limit the price increase we had to make this year, we have decided to remove the discount structure. We have faced substantial cost increases since the beginning of the pandemic and it was not longer sustainable to run on this basis.

We don’t need a child to attend the full day of each course, however, if they need to be dropped off late or collected early this can be accommodated at the lunchtime, approximately 12.30-1.30pm. Unfortunately it is not possible to bring a child in early at the end of the day for collection, so instead we ask that you arrange with your child’s instructor to collect them at lunchtime.
