RS Feva Race Coaching Programme

There is a growing fleet of RS Fevas in Dun Laoghaire and with this there is a big push to get the boats out racing and for more young sailors to experience the fun of racing.  Every year the class association organise a series of regional races to give youngsters something to work towards. The 2022 RS Feva Easterns are taking place in Dun Laoghaire on Saturday 17th and Sunday 18th September.

We have teamed up with our sister organisation, Irish National Marine Services who are the RS Sailing agent in Ireland, to develop a programme of coaching that culminates in participating in this event. Boats, entry documents and all the associated procedures will be looked after by the school, allowing sailors to focus on developing racing skills and getting the most out of the time.

Heather Wright (former Irish National Sailing & Powerboat School Senior Instructor) & Ronan Mooney (Advanced Junior Programmes Lead) will be leading the coaching on the water.

Pre-Event Coaching

The coaching programme will run over a series of 6 Saturday mornings;

  • Saturday 6th August
  • Saturday 13th August
  • Saturday 20th August
  • Saturday 27th August
  • Saturday 3rd September
  • Saturday 10th September

RS Feva Easterns

  • Saturday 17th and Sunday 18th September – Full Days of Racing

During the Easterns event, one of the INSS coaches will be afloat in one of our safety boats to ensure they are comfortable while afloat and ensure everyone all gets back to shore, where they’ll debrief the racing and offer some tips.

Bookings & Crew Information

The cost per person would be €350, which is inclusive of everything needed to get racing and all entry and class association fees. This programme is mainly aimed at our advanced group 11-14 years sailors, although advanced sailors from our 15-17 years group should get in touch!

If you’re interested, please do let us know. Once we’ve got an understanding of the interest level we’ll be work to set up crews. If there’s two friends who particularly want to sail together we’ll facilitate this, however, you need not worry about coming on your own as we’ll organise crews as required.
