Always wanted to get afloat with the kids? Well here’s your chance. On Saturday 1st July from 10am-12.30pm we’ll have dedicated boats assigned for just this purpose.
Our J80 keelboats are 26 ft long and a ballasted with a keel, so cannot capsize. They’re the perfect boat for families with kids aged 7 yrs and up to try sailing, or for parents of our course attendees to see what all the fuss is about. Each boat will be skippered by one of our experienced instructors, who’ll get everyone involved in steering, setting the sails and all the onboard activities to make the boats sail!
When: Saturday 1st July, 10am-12.30pm
How Much: €150 – boats are private and for each family individually
Who: The J80s are suitable for up to 6 people. Kids aged 7yrs and up are welcome.
What to bring:
We’ll provide lifejackets for everyone. Please bring the following:
- Footwear with good grip – runners are ideal
- We’d suggest rain jackets
- Change of clothes (just incase)

A great family activity – our sit on top kayaks are easy to master and you’ll find your way in seconds. Our instructors will then guide you around the sheltered confines of the inner harbour of Dun Laoghaire. We’ll provide you with a wetsuit and buoyancy aid. Hot showers are available after the activity. Suitable for children aged 7 years and up.

- Swimming Togs to wear underneath the wetsuits

Try sailing on board one of our fleet of J80 sportsyachts. Fast, stable and easy to sail, they’re the perfect vessel to get your first taste of sailing aboard! We provide waterproof overalls in case of splashes and lifejackets to wear. You’ll be on board with one of our experienced instructors as they get you setting the sails and even steering the yacht!

Getting Kids involved in Watersports and Keeping them involved
We’re delighted to be hosting a short presentation in the Dun Laoaghaire Rathdown Lexicon on Monday 3rd July where we’ll be sharing some secrets on how to keep kids active in watersports. There’ll be a series of short presentations from the team about the various techniques we use to engage and motivate from ages 4-6 years.
All parents of our children’s courses are welcome to attend as indeed is anyone interested in getting their kids involved in watersports.
