Day Skipper Theory

This Day Skipper Shorebased Course is designed specifically for those who wish to undertake the Yachting Day Skipper Practical Course or the Intermediate Powerboat Course.  The aim of this course is to provide the background knowledge for participants to be able to navigate and skipper a yacht or fast powerboat by day.

Course Options | Online or Classroom

The Day Skipper Theory Course is delivered by Navathome, a RYA Recognised Training Centre specialising in online training. Upon booking, a website link and password will be sent to you. Please allow one business day to recieve this.

You will be tutored /supported by an experienced RYA instructor. The cost of the programme is €400.

The contract is between Navathome.com and the student and please note that by booking this course you agree to the terms and conditions of Navathome available here. To enable access to your online course we need to share some of your personal data with Navathome via www.navathome.com. This training website and database is held and maintained on a secure server. Navathome is an RYA training centre which specialises in online navigation training and will not use your personal information for any reason other than enabling your course.  Please review the full details of this here. You’ll have 6 months to complete the course, however, this can be extended for €30.00 paid to the Irish National Sailing and Powerboat School.

Course 1: March – Saturdays (9.30am-5pm), Tuesdays (6.30pm-10pm) and Thursdays 6.30pm-10pm)

  • Saturday 12th, Tuesday 15th, Thursday 17th, Saturday 19th, Tuesday 22nd, Thursday 23rd, Saturday 26th, Tuesday 29th & Thursday 31st March – Exam takes place on Saturday 2nd April

Course 2: October – Saturdays (9.30am-5pm), Tuesdays (6.30pm-10pm) and Thursdays 6.30pm-10pm)

  • Saturday 1st, Tuesday 4th, Thursday 6th, Saturday 8th, Tuesday 11th, Thursday 13th, Saturday 15th, Tuesday 18th, Thursday 20th October, Exam takes place on Saturday 22nd October

Course Fee – €499: Includes all course notes, books, papers and complimentary tea and coffee.
