2023 Review: Children’s Sailing in Ramor

We were delighted once again to visit Ramor Watersports Club in Virgina Co. Cavan this Summer for a week-long sailing course.

It was a full team effort – our maintenance team prepared a fleet of RS Zests and Oppies which were delivered by the MarineServices.ie. Once in Cavan the team of instructors lead by Senior Instructor Dan Fitzgerald and group head instructor Cian Fay prepared the boats and welcomed the sailors.

RS Zests, Oppies and a Safety Boat – the MarineServices.ie crew transported and delivered the fleet from Dun Laoghaire to Cavan. Pictured are instructors Dan and Cian who then got the fleet rigged ahead of the week-long course starting.

This is our third year in Ramor, our first visit being in Summer 2019. The pandemic meant we weren’t back until 2022 and with this year’s successful course it’s starting to take on a distinctly annual feel!

We had great weather for the week for the roughly 15 sailors ranging from 7 years to 15 years.

We’re delighted to be able to support sailing in Ireland like this. Our relationship with Ramor Watersports Club includes a series of annual powerboat training programmes. The club operates from the Lakeside Manor Hotel, and boosts their own marina with over 25 berths. The club has recently added a new assessable boat and continues to go from strength to strength.

Our thanks to David Brouder – former INSS Senior Instructor – and Ramor Watersports Club member who made the very first junior sailing event happen in 2019 and the whole RWC membership who have made every trip so enjoyable.

Happy New Year to the RWC crew and we look forward to seeing you again in 2024!
